Statism

The term for the notion that the world is essentially static, that is, doesn't change significantly.

Though statism may be locally valid (by definition of locality!), and thus helpful when measuring expediency, it is generally completely false in the long run and thus harmful when measuring real utility.


Wouldn't that be "staticism"? Statism is the "concentration of economic controls and planning in the hands of a highly centralized government" (m-w.com), a widely used and known term. This has nothing to do with that...
