The *(political term) for a project that is constantly publishing its results and accepting _(feedback). _(Liberalism) tells us that if an open-developed project has got enough _(publicity), it will succeed better than any other one.

_(Linux), as well as the _(GNU), are projects under open development, to write a free implementation of the _(POSIX) specifications (i.e. a _(Unix) clone), and free software to run under such a system. Both projects are quite successful, and _(Linux) is being the most popular and supported _(OS) by internetters, while GNU are their most popular tools.

TUNES is committed to open development; but its goals are quite different from _(Linux) or _(GNU): TUNES should design a new system for maximal _(utility), whereas _(Linux) merely implement existing already specified software, extending it according to general _(expediency), and _(GNU) doesn't have a long-term philosophy and wants binary compatibility with _(Unix) with which it shares the traditional computing models.
