Jacques Pitrat is a *(person) who's been into _(Artificial Intelligence) research since the 1950's.

His approach is focused on metaknowledge, and he's been developing reflective knowledge-based engines since the 1950's. He's been bootstrapping his current system, _(MACISTE) for about twenty years, but it is unhappily a one-man system, undocumented and mostly unusable by anyone but him - an "autistic" reflective system.

Jacques Pitrat is a gentleman researcher who's never been aggressive enough to push his ideas and his disciples into the jungle of academic research.

If you can read French, do read his book "Mtaconnaissance" (Metaknowledge).

Prominent disciples of Pitrat include _(Jean-Louis Laurire) and _(Jean-Marc Fouet).
